Author and Image Authority, Alex Ellis advanced to Atlanta with his Eleven-city
tour Tied to Greatness; an image program designed to empower young men
to make quality decisions regarding their personal image from the inside out.
Since the February 1st New York launch over 800 teens have been captivated
with a fresh vision of healthy image using the power of positive male role
models, inspiring entertainment, and principle based instruction. An
additional 300 young men were at Westlake High School on Friday, February
22nd, joined by a congruent army of men from the Atlanta metro area.
Several years of mentoring, speaking, and image coaching have inspired Ellis
to cultivate the birth of this national initiative.
“Image is not just about clothes or physical appearance. Do you have
character and integrity? Are you honest?," Ellis asked the auditorium of young
men.
"If we don’t teach them, they’ll be left to the misleading and often destructive
influences of our society.” We can’t afford to sit by and watch another
generation deteriorate. Mediocrity is not an option. Their greatness must be
realized,” added Ellis.
The Atlanta event garnered the confirmation of several influential men who
assembled to share insight and personal testimonies on “Image &
Greatness” such as: BET Host of Lift Every Voice Gerard Henry; Atlanta
Falcons Player Ovie Mughelli; Fashion Designer, Michael Knight (Bravo TV’s
Project Runway); Isaac Carree of singing group Men of Standard and many
more. Other male role models from the entire Atlanta metro area participated
as well.
"Greatness is courage," said Michael Knight. "Be genuine, nice and
courageous, not just well dressed."
Isaac Carree said, " Brothers, make sure you check out Brooks Brothers and
Ralph Lauren, not just Footlocker."
Atlanta Falcons fullback Ovie Mughelli told the teens, "To be great, you must be
able to fight adversity. You can let it either conquer you or make you stronger."
The day’s event began and ended with contemporary Vaudevillian group, The
James Gang of John Legend’s new label, Home School. Their commanding
performance displayed the evolution of male fashion dating back to the Harlem
Renaissance.
The day concluded with a tie-tying ceremony, commemorating the rite of
passage with a symbol of their manhood. Retailers donated fashionable ties
and each young man received a sponsored copy of Ellis’ book, “Restoring the
Male Image: A Look from the Inside Out”.
Top achieving Senior Matthew Fields was surprised by school administrators
with a custom tailored suit by Atlanta-based boutique, Sammy’s Place, Inc and
designer Sue Monderson. This suit will be amongst one of the first in their
newly launched men's collection, Manassi & Co.
Tied to Greatness will continue tour stops in cities such as Baltimore,
Charlotte, Dallas, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and Newark, NJ.
The tour seeks to engage additional prominent male volunteers, sponsorship
and media opportunities.
